IMA Zimbabwe Affiliations

In a span of 10 months, in the year 2007, IMA Zimbabwe had established the following affiliations:

a. Zimbabwe Medical Association (ZIMA)

IMAZ represented by Dr. Ashmawy (President), Dr. Amer (Vice President), Dr. Sururu (Director of clinics) held several meetings with their ZIMA colleagues. ZIMA executives were appreciative of IMAZ efforts after satisfying themselves through questioning.

“We do not wish to have a project that relies on a single person or individual. When individuals decide to leave, the whole thing is likely to collapse and fail… we wish to found a well-established Organisation that will help and serve the poor Zimbabwean regardless of his belief”

And the President went on to say

“… we want (this Organisation) to be an Islamic Association in order to motivate the Muslim community to contribute towards such projects as part of our religious obligation, that compels Muslims to give charity which we call Zakat. Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islamic beliefs …”

b. Islamic Medical Association of South Africa (IMASA).

Communication between IMA Zimbabwe and IMASA was established by Dr. Ashmawy (President) through Brother Hassan Esat who introduced him to Dr. Moosa Motara
